Bail Bonds 101
1. Consultation - If you have a loved one in jail, the first step is to contact a Bail Bond Agent. We will help you understand the bail amount and how to get your loved one released.
2. Paperwork - Paperwork has to be completed to start the bonding process. It can be done in person or electronically.
3. Bond Posting - Your agent will go to the jail and submit the required paperwork to secure your loves one's release.
A Bail Bond is a contract guaranteeing to the court that the defendant will appear for all future court dates. If not, the full bond amount will have to be paid to the court.
A Indemnitor (cosigner) is the person who takes financial responsibility for the bail bond if the defendant fails to appear in court which is the full bond amount.
The process varies depending on how many people are being released beforehand.
In Florida, a Bail Bond is 10% of what the full bond amount is.
Unfortunately, no.. if you go through a Bail Bond Agency, the 10% fee is non-refundable. The only way you get money back is if you pay the full bond amount directly to the jail.
